Frequently Asked Questions about ResponDM

Frequently Asked Questions about ResponDM

Whether you're just getting started or want to understand the platform in more detail, this page covers the most common questions about ResponDM. Topics are organized by category for easier navigation.

About ResponDM

1. What is ResponDM and how does Instagram automation work?

ResponDM is a Brazilian Instagram automation platform that allows you to send automatic messages via DM based on three types of triggers: comments on posts and Reels, direct messages received in DMs, and replies to Stories. When someone interacts with your profile in one of these ways, ResponDM identifies the trigger and automatically sends the configured message, with no manual action required.

2. Is ResponDM an official tool? Does it comply with Instagram's rules?

Yes. ResponDM uses exclusively Meta's official API, the same channel that Instagram's technology partners use to build integrations. The platform is approved under the Meta for Developers program, which means all automations operate within Meta's official guidelines.

3. Who is ResponDM for?

ResponDM was built for anyone who uses Instagram for business: infoproducers, affiliates, e-commerce stores, content creators, digital marketing agencies, and local businesses. If you receive comments or DMs on Instagram and want to respond quickly and automatically, this tool was made for you.

4. Does ResponDM work with personal Instagram accounts?

No. Meta's official API that powers ResponDM is only available for business or creator accounts on Instagram. Personal accounts do not have the required permissions. Switching from a personal account to a business or creator account is free and can be done directly in the Instagram app settings.

5. Do I need technical knowledge to use ResponDM?

No. The platform was designed to be used without any technical background. Automations are created through a visual interface with menus, buttons, and text fields. A basic automation can be set up in just a few minutes.

Security and Meta API

6. Is ResponDM safe to use with my Instagram account?

Yes. The connection between ResponDM and Instagram is made through Meta's official API, using the same authorization protocol as platforms like Facebook Ads Manager and Creator Studio. You authorize the connection directly through Instagram, without sharing your password with ResponDM.

7. Can using ResponDM get my account blocked?

No, as long as automations are used responsibly. Because it operates through Meta's official API, ResponDM functions within Instagram's rules. Behaviors that may trigger warnings on Instagram are the same as any abusive use: mass sending without context, excessive repetition of identical messages, and clearly artificial interactions. The platform itself has features that help avoid these behaviors, such as the random rotation of public replies.

8. Can Meta penalize users who use automation on Instagram?

Meta prohibits automations that use unofficial methods to simulate human behavior. ResponDM does not fall into this category, as it operates through the official API. What Meta restricts is spam behavior, not automation itself. Using ResponDM with good practices carries no risk of penalty.

9. Is my Instagram password exposed when I connect ResponDM?

No. The connection process uses Meta's OAuth protocol, the same one used by any app that requests permission to access Instagram data. You log in directly through Instagram and authorize the connection. ResponDM never has access to your password.

Plans and Pricing

10. Is there a free plan to test the tool?

Yes. The Free plan is completely free, requires no credit card, and gives you access to all basic platform features, with a limit of 60 automation executions. It is the fastest way to test the tool before deciding on the PRO plan.

11. What is included in the free plan?

The Free plan includes access to comment, DM, and Story automations, all five DM sending formats (Text, Button, Carousel, Page, and Flow), and the Link Bio feature. The limit is 60 total executions, after which automations are automatically paused until you upgrade to the PRO plan.

12. What happens when the free plan limit is reached?

Automations are automatically paused. No configuration is lost. To reactivate and continue without limitations, simply upgrade to the PRO plan. Activation is immediate after payment.

13. What are the advantages of the ResponDM PRO plan?

The PRO plan unlocks unlimited automations, access to the full Flow with all node types, priority support via WhatsApp, and discounts for multiple subscriptions. It is the recommended plan for anyone who uses Instagram professionally and needs volume and consistency in their automations.

14. Can I cancel the PRO plan at any time?

Yes. There is no loyalty requirement or minimum contract. You can cancel at any time, and access remains active until the end of the already paid period.

15. Is there a discount for multiple accounts?

Yes. The PRO plan offers a discount for those who subscribe more than one account. This benefit is especially useful for agencies and professionals who manage profiles for multiple clients.

16. How does payment work?

The PRO plan is billed monthly. Payment is processed securely and access is activated immediately after confirmation.

Comment Automation

17. How does comment automation work on Instagram?

You define a keyword as a trigger. When someone comments that word on a post or Reel on your account, ResponDM automatically sends a DM to that person and, optionally, a public reply on the comment. The entire process happens in seconds, with no manual intervention.

18. Can I link an automation to a specific post or to all posts?

Both options are available. You can create an automation for a specific post or Reel, which is useful for one-time campaigns, or activate it for all posts on the account at once. The specific automation always takes priority over the general one when both are active for the same post.

19. What are keyword triggers and how do I choose them?

Keyword triggers are the words that activate the automation when commented. The system identifies the word by exact full-word match, meaning the trigger "WANT" activates on "want the link" but not on "wanted". The search is case-insensitive. The recommendation is to use short, specific words that people would only type intentionally, such as "WANT", "LINK", "INFO", or "ACCESS".

20. Does automation work on Reels, carousels, and Remixes?

Yes. Comment automation works on posts, Reels, and Remixes. For carousel posts, you need to have at least 5 public replies configured for the automation to work correctly.

21. What are public replies and why do I need at least 5?

Public replies are the messages that ResponDM posts in the comments as a response to the user who triggered the automation. The minimum of 5 options is required because the system randomly selects one for each trigger, which prevents the account from repeating the same phrase in sequence and reduces the risk of behavior being flagged as spam by Instagram.

22. Does the profile owner trigger the automation by commenting on their own post?

No. Comments made by the profile owner do not trigger the automation. This prevents accidental triggers during testing or when manually replying to comments.

23. What happens if a comment is deleted before it is processed?

If a comment is deleted before the automation processes it, neither the DM nor the public reply are sent. The automation is only triggered by comments that exist at the time of processing.

DM Automation

24. How does DM automation work in ResponDM?

DM automation automatically replies to messages received in your profile's direct inbox. When someone sends a message containing a configured keyword, or any message if you enable that option, ResponDM automatically sends the configured reply in the same conversation.

25. Can I have more than one DM automation active at the same time?

Yes. Multiple DM automations can be active simultaneously, each with their own triggers and configured responses.

26. Can two identical triggers in different DM automations work at the same time?

No. The system blocks duplicate triggers across DM automations to avoid trigger conflicts. Each keyword can only be registered in one DM automation at a time.

27. Do edited messages from users reactivate the automation?

No. Only the original message is considered for the trigger. Later edits do not reactivate the automation.

28. Does the automation reply to any message or only specific keywords?

Both configurations are possible. If you register keywords, the automation only triggers when the message contains one of them. If you disable the keyword option, any message received in the DM, including emojis, periods, and generic text, activates the automation.

Story Automation

29. How does Story automation work?

Story automation triggers when someone replies to a Story on your profile. You can configure it for a specific Story or for any Story on the account. When the reply contains the configured keyword, or any reply if you disable the triggers, ResponDM automatically sends a DM.

30. Can I create automations for specific Stories and for all Stories at the same time?

Yes. Both configurations coexist without conflict. The automation for a specific Story is independent from the global automation for all Stories.

31. What happens to the automation when the Story expires?

Stories expire after 24 hours. The automation linked to it remains registered on the platform but has no effect since the Story no longer exists. The global "all Stories" automation continues working normally for future Stories.

32. Do emojis and Story reactions also trigger the automation?

Yes. Default reactions, reaction stickers, emojis, and text sent through the Story reply field are all recognized as replies and can trigger the automation, whether by specific keyword or through the "any reply" configuration.

DM Sending Formats

33. What message formats can I send in the DM?

ResponDM offers five sending formats: Text (simple message with clickable links), Button (text with up to 3 clickable buttons), Carousel (up to 10 cards with image and buttons), Page (button that opens an external page with multiple links), and Flow (custom flow with multiple nodes, branches, and data collection).

34. What is the character limit for messages?

Plain text messages and texts within Flow nodes support up to 1,000 characters each. Button texts are recommended to stay within 50 to 70 characters to ensure proper display in the DM.

35. How many buttons can I include in a message?

Up to 3 buttons per message in the Button format and in Flow message nodes. Each button can either open a URL or function as a return trigger to continue the flow along a different path.

36. How does carousel sending work in the DM?

The carousel sends up to 10 horizontally scrollable cards in the DM. Each card can contain a title, an image via URL, and up to 3 clickable buttons. It is the most recommended format for stores that want to showcase multiple products in a single message.

37. What is Flow and when should I use it?

Flow is ResponDM's most complete feature. It allows you to create custom conversation flows with multiple nodes: text messages, buttons, carousels, images, audio, video, data collection, delays, conditions, and branches. It is recommended when you need more than one conversation step with the lead, such as a complete pre-service flow, a nurture sequence, or structured data capture.

38. Can I send audio, video, and images in the DM?

Yes, within the Flow. Images can be sent via direct upload or URL. Audio supports MP3 and OGG formats, with a 16MB limit. Video supports MP4, OGG, AVI, MOV, and WEBM, with a 32MB limit.

Triggers, Keywords, and Rules

39. Is the keyword search case-sensitive?

No. The search is case-insensitive. "want", "Want", and "WANT" are treated as the same trigger.

40. Do accents affect the trigger?

Yes. Accents are not normalized by the system. If your keyword has an accent, consider also registering the version without the accent to cover both spelling variations.

41. Can emojis and hashtags be used as triggers?

Yes. Emojis, hashtags (#), and mentions (@) can all be registered as triggers in comment, DM, and Story automations.

42. What is the "Send only once via DM" option?

It is a setting available in all automations that send a DM. When enabled, the same user receives the automatic message only the first time they trigger the automation in that specific automation, regardless of how many times they repeat the action. It is recommended in most cases to avoid repeated sends and maintain a clean experience for the lead.

43. What is the "Send only to followers" option?

It is a setting that blocks the DM from being sent to users who do not follow the profile. When enabled, the non-follower receives a message asking them to follow the profile before continuing. After following and confirming via the button available in the DM, the configured content is sent normally. Users who already follow the profile skip this step entirely.

Flow, Tags, and Segmentation

44. What are tags in ResponDM and what are they used for?

Tags are labels you create freely to classify and segment leads that pass through the Flow. They are global per account, meaning they work across all automations. With tags, you can identify which stage of the funnel each lead is in, create conditions to send different content to specific groups, and remove labels when a lead's status changes.

45. How do condition nodes work in the Flow?

Condition nodes evaluate whether the lead has or does not have a specific tag, whether they follow the profile or not, or whether the interaction is happening on a specific day or time. Based on this evaluation, the flow splits into two paths: Yes and No. Each path can have a completely different sequence of nodes.

46. Can I collect lead data within the Flow?

Yes. The Input node allows you to send a question to the lead and store the response as a reusable variable throughout the rest of the flow. For example, after collecting the lead's name with an Input node, you can use it in subsequent messages in the format {{name}}, creating a personalized DM experience.

47. What is the randomization node and when should I use it?

The randomization node distributes the flow among variations according to percentages you define. It is useful for A/B testing messages, varying the experience for different leads, and distributing different offers proportionally.

48. Is it possible to export data collected by the Flow?

Yes. Data collected by Input nodes can be downloaded in CSV format directly within the automation.

49. What is the ResponDM Link Bio?

Link Bio is a public page automatically generated by ResponDM to centralize all your important links in a single address. It works as the "single link" you place in your Instagram bio, with the advantage of being directly integrated into the platform, without depending on external tools.

50. How do I access and configure the Link Bio?

Access it through: Side menu > Contacts > Bio. Inside the configuration, you set the page description, add links with title, URL, and image, and preview everything in real time on a mobile mockup before publishing.

51. Is there a limit to the number of links on the Link Bio page?

There is no strict limit on the number of links. The recommendation is to keep a reasonable number to ensure a good visual experience for visitors. Each link is an individual button with a title, URL, and optional image.

Import, Export, and Multiple Accounts

52. Can I replicate an automation to another Instagram account?

Yes. ResponDM allows you to export and import automations in JSON format. This makes it possible to replicate triggers, replies, and entire Flow structures to other accounts, without having to configure everything from scratch.

53. How does the import and export automation feature work?

Within each automation, in the Triggers, Public Replies, and Flow sections, you will find the "Export to" and "Import from" buttons. Export generates a JSON file with the entire structure of that section. Import loads a previously exported JSON file and replaces the current configuration with the imported one.

54. Does ResponDM support multiple Instagram accounts?

Yes. A single ResponDM account can connect and manage multiple Instagram profiles. Each account has its own independent automations, tags, and settings. The PRO plan offers a discount for those who subscribe more than one account.
